Legal Careers Expo to highlight diversity of profession

The State’s legal industry will be on show to more than 500 law graduates at the third consecutive Queensland Law Society Legal Careers Expo being held at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre on Thursday 18 March 2010.

Queensland Law Society Chief Executive Officer, Noela L’Estrange said the event is the premier legal education, training and employment exhibition in Queensland and extended its reach to leaders in the legal industry, legal career-minded university students, law graduates, job seekers and those considering a career change.

“The range of legal career information, workshops and resources on offer is a major draw card for students, graduates and job seekers,” Ms L’Estrange said.

She said the State’s commercial and government law firms, allied professional organisations, recruitment agencies and universities also embraced this truly unique opportunity to directly engage those wanting a career in law.

“With more than 8000 practising solicitors in 2009, the legal profession is becoming increasingly competitive and the Legal Careers Expo is an opportunity to discuss law firm culture, potential job opportunities, and the requirements for securing a position,” she said.

The Legal Careers Expo will highlight the diversity of the legal profession as one providing integral legal services to businesses, governments, the community and individuals, and will showcase genuine career pathways to the legal work force of the future.
