Queensland Law Society president Ken Taylor today (JUNE 21) said the appointment of Queensland Crown Prosecutor Glen Cash QC to the District Court was a good pick, and would assist in upholding justice in Maroochydore.
“Glen has a solid reputation in the legal profession as a barrister, Queen’s Counsel and most recently, as Crown Prosecutor for the Department of Public Prosecutions,” Mr Taylor said.
“The appointment of such a stellar practitioner to a regional area will ensure that the community of Maroochydore has access to the same calibre of justice as the larger cities.”
The appointment of Mr Cash QC will fill the gap left by the first solicitor appointed to Queensland’s District Court, Mr John Robertson.
“Glen has some big shoes to fill to replace retired judge John Robertson, but I am sure he will maintain the high standards that the previous judge set,” Mr Taylor said.
“I thank the Government for the timely appointment, and I look forward to future judicial appointments, of which I hope to see many solicitors elevated to the bench.
“On behalf of the solicitors of Queensland, I congratulate Mr Cash QC on his appointment and I look forward to welcoming him to the bench.”
