Queensland Law Society president Bill Potts has commended the state government for its appointment of past Society president and chief executive officer Peter Carne at the state's new Public Trustee.
Mr Potts said Mr Carne’s respected career as a Queensland solicitor of more than 30 years, and his role as managing partner at Carne Reidy Herd make him the perfect choice for the role.
"I applaud Peter on his appointment as Public Trustee for the second time, and look forward to working with him in his new role," he said.
"Peter has contributed greatly to the Queensland legal profession throughout his career, and also to the Queensland Law Society, as CEO for four years in 2005, and as a past president."
Mr Potts spoke to Mr Carne after his appointment to offer congratulations, with Mr Carne sharing his enthusiasm for the new position.
"I look forward to the opportunity to again lead a great organisation such as the Public Trustee, and also to have the opportunity to work closely with the Queensland Law Society and Queensland solicitors," he said.
Mr Carne is vastly experienced experienced CEO, Executive Director and Board member with an outstanding track record of delivering improved business performance in large and complex organisations.
