Queensland Law Society CEO Amelia Hodge is supporting Women’s Legal Service (WLS) this year at the ‘Dancing CEOs’ competition.
Amelia will perform at the gala event to raise funds for the prevention of domestic violence at Brisbane City Hall on 15 April. This event has been listed by The Sunday Mail as one of Brisbane’s Top 10 events.
“Women’s Legal Service provides valuable support for women and children who must sometimes live through the worst of circumstances,” she said.
“It is my hope that my involvement in this fundraising endeavour will help to raise awareness of the Women’s Legal Service and its work in the prevention of family and domestic violence.
“I am proud of the $48 million of pro bono work that Queensland solicitors contributed in 2014-15, which included work in the area of domestic violence.
“We can always do more, and I encourage the legal profession and members of the general public to get behind this important initiative.”
Amelia has raised almost $4000 at the time of this release, with a goal of $10,000.
The Society also supports the work of the WLS through sponsorship of the annual White Ribbon Day breakfast each November, held at the Supreme Court of Queensland.
