Queensland Law Society president Michael Fitzgerald extends congratulations to Justice Philip McMurdo and Mr Michael Roderick Byrne QC on the announcement of their appointments.
“The Society welcomes the appointment of Justice Philip McMurdo as a new judge of the Court of Appeal, and Mr Byrne QC as Director of Public Prosecutions for the State of Queensland,” says Mr Fitzgerald.
Justice McMurdo is an experienced judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland with a distinguished career in the law, both at the Bar and on the Bench. Mr Byrne QC is a highly respected barrister and now Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The primary function of the DPP is prosecuting on behalf of the State of Queensland people charged with criminal offences in the High Court, Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court (limited) and Mental Health Court.
“Justice Philip McMurdo and Mr Byrne QC are highly respected by both the legal profession and the judiciary,” Mr Fitzgerald says.
