20 February 2019 – President's update

I have had a busy start to this year, which is to be expected, but thankfully a lot of that busyness has been related to very positive events. I have been very pleased to have cause to welcome a number of new members to our judiciary (and look to welcome many more before the end of my term, hopefully including a good number from the diverse and competent ranks of Queensland’s solicitors).

Practitioners are invited to provide feedback as QLS policy committees prepare submissions for the inquiry into the Opportunities and Challenges of the Engagement of Traditional Owners in the Economic Development of Northern Australia.

20 February 2019 – Appointment of receiver for Stenton & Moore Solicitors, Mudgeeraba

On 7 February 2019, the Council of the Queensland Law Society Incorporated (the Society) passed resolutions to appoint officers of the Society, jointly and severally, as the Receiver for the law practice, Stenton & Moore Solicitors.
