ACCC announces compliance and enforcement priorities for 2018
28 February 2018
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission released its new Compliance and Enforcement Policy on 21 February 2018. The regulator has advised that, in 2018, it will focus on consumer issues in broadband services and energy, competition in financial services and commercial construction sectors, systemic consumer guarantee issues and conduct which may contravene the new misuse of market power and concerted practices provisions.
The policy also sets out that the ACCC will continue to ensure the operation of the unfair contracts terms law and industry codes, with a focus on franchising issues relating to large or national franchisors.
