Amended DV legislation in effect
31 May 2017
The amendments contained in the Domestic and Family Violence Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2016, excepting those which implement the scheme for national recognition of domestic violence orders, commenced on 30 May 2017. A summary of these amendments is available online and an article discussing the changes will appear in the June edition of Proctor.
To support these amendments Queensland Courts has implemented necessary changes to court practices, information for court users and relevant forms. In particular, a new version of the DV4 Application to vary a domestic violence order requires an applicant for a variation to indicate if other relevant court orders are in place, including any family law order. This new version of the DV4 form is available on the Queensland Courts website.
