The QLS Council sets the strategic direction of the Society and guides the Society in advocating for and on behalf of the solicitors’ branch of the Queensland legal profession. Council comprises a president, deputy president, vice president, eight ordinary Council members and an Attorney-General’s nominee.

Key 2017 QLS Council election dates include:

Close of the Roll of Electors | Monday 4 September 2017 at 9am AEST

Notice of election & nomination process opens | Monday 4 September 2017

Nomination period closes |  Tuesday 19 September 2017 at 4pm AEST

Nominee campaigning period | From date nomination is approved to Monday 16 October 2017 at 4pm AEST

Member voting period | Wednesday 4 October to Monday 16 October 2017 at 4pm AEST

Announcement of results | From Tuesday 17 October 2017

An information session for members wishing to learn more about nomination opportunities will be streamed via Facebook Live from 11.30am on Monday 14 August 2017. A recording of the session will be available for viewing on the QLS website from 18 August 2017.

Remember, only full QLS members on the Roll of Electors are eligible to stand for election, vote and nominate candidates. To ensure your membership details are correct and up to date, contact Records and Member Services on 1300 367 757 or email records@qls.com.au before the close of the roll.
