Elizabeth Shearer appointed to Professional Standards Council

The Attorney-General, Yvette D’Ath, has appointed former Queensland Law Society Councillor and Chair of our Access to Justice/Pro Bono Law Committee, Elizabeth Shearer, to Queensland’s Professional Standards Council.

The Professional Standards Council serves the Queensland community by protecting consumers and facilitating the improvement of professional standards in a range of professions, including the legal profession. The Council is responsible for assessing and approving applications for Professional Standards Schemes – including the Society’s Limitation of Liability Scheme – which limit the civil liability of professional association members, including solicitors.

In this role, Elizabeth will not only be representing the interests of Queenslanders within the State, but will be the Queensland representative to the national Professional Standards Councils. This appointment is for an initial term of three years and was effective from 3 April 2018.
