FCC seeks family law mediators

The Federal Circuit Court, in an effort to reduce waiting times for trials, will commence referring family law matters, both parenting and property matters, for mediation and dispute resolution. The court is seeking mediators to conduct these mediations/dispute resolutions, some of which will need to be done on a pro bono basis.

The court will provide the parties with a list of participating mediators.

The first callover for matters listed in April 2018 will take place on 12 and 13 February 2018, with a follow-up listing in the week of 19 March 2018. The second callover for matters listed in May and June 2018 will take place in the week commencing 5 March 2018. Follow-up listings for May 2018 trials will occur on about 18 April 2018.

Mediators will need to be available from 12 February to 18 April 2018.

If you would like to participate, please contact QLS via advocacy@qls.com.au confirming:

  1. your fee for half-day and full-day mediations
  2. whether you are prepared to mediate both parenting and property matters
  3. whether you are prepared to do some mediations on a pro bono basis.
