Get stuck into Law Week!
4 May 2011
Law Week, 16-21 May, is a national event. The theme for this year is ‘Law and justice in your community'. In Queensland, the purpose of the event is to build awareness and promotion of the law, the legal system and the legal profession.
Queensland Law Society aims to support Law Week by:
- connecting with the community, promoting legal issues and providing consumer support
- leveraging this opportunity to promote the importance of the legal profession and its capacity to provide the community with valuable, trusted support.
The Society is involved in a number of Brisbane-based events including:
QPILCH Walk for Justice, 16 May – of which the Society is a major sponsor. This event aims to raise community awareness of the importance of pro bono legal services.
Criminal History Tours, 16-18 May – All tours are now sold out, however we are taking names for an extra Wednesday night tour. If you would like to go on a wait list for this please email your name, address and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org
Law Week Trivia Night, 19 May – a chance for lawyers from across the spectrum of practice to pit their wits and wills against each other and celebrate their profession’s achievements.
Brisbane Magistrates Court Open Day, 21 May – promoting the legal profession’s role in the community together with a host of other exhibitors and events. This event will also play host to some great information sessions on family, property and succession law. In addition, solicitors will be on hand for pro bono one-on-one 20-30 minute consultation sessions to guide consumers through the will production process.
In addition, the Society is supporting events in a number of regional centres around Queensland such as, Ipswich, Gympie, Townsville, Cairns. Contact your local District Law Association for more information.
All Queenslanders are invited to join in the fun of Law Week 2011!
