Invitation to nominate for rural mediator accreditation

The Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority (QRAA) is inviting legal practitioners to nominate for mediator accreditation under the Farm Business Debt Mediation Act 2017 (the Act).

The QRAA will become the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) on 1 July 2017 and be responsible for the administration of the Act and for the provision a Farm Business Debt Mediation (FBDM) program for Queensland.

The FBDM program will launch on 1 July 2017 and will provide a register of mediators that parties to a mediation can access to select a mediator.

Interested applicants should consider the following criteria:

  • an accreditation under an accreditation Act or the National Mediator Accreditation System from a recognised mediator accreditation body
  • knowledge about, and experience in, primary industries, business finance and financial management
  • the ability to carry out the functions of a mediator as set out in Section 20 of the Farm Business Debt Mediation Act 2017.

Access the application form and application guide for mediator accreditation.

Questions on the application process or application requirements can be directed to John Simpson at the QRAA on 07 3032 0183.
