Access holiday period arrangements for the Federal Court of Australia Queensland Registry.
Court of Appeal
Although the Supreme Court Registry will be closed from Monday 26 December up to and including Friday 6 January, appeal periods will continue to run. Under s38 of the Acts Interpretation Act 1954 (Qld), an appeal period that expires when the registry is closed for the holiday period will be extended to the next day on which the registry is open.

Please note that the Titles Registry, including all lodgement offices, will close at 4:30pm Friday 23 December for the Christmas and New Year break, and re-open at 8:30am on Tuesday 3 January 2017. To avoid processing delays, it is advisable that, where possible, you prioritise lodgements leading up to this closure period. Alternatively, you may wish to lodge electronically or through the National Electronic Conveyancing System.
Australian Tax Office
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has advised that its offices will be closed from 23 December 2016 to 3 January 2017. Note that no ATO clearance certificates will be issued during this period. Practitioners are reminded that online applications must be made at least 14 days in advance to avoid possible settlement delays.
Queensland Law Society
Please note that Queensland Law Society will be closed for two weeks over the Christmas holiday period, closing at 4pm on Friday 23 December and re-opening on Monday 9 January.
The final 2016 edition of QLS Update will be distributed Wednesday 21 December. The first edition for 2017 will be on Wednesday 18 January.
