Premier legal gathering in Queensland to feature leading presenters
16 March 2016
Queensland Law Society’s annual Symposium will feature presenters including the Chief Justice of Queensland, Queensland’s Attorney-General, and internationally renowned criminal and human rights lawyer Rabia Siddique.
QLS Symposium is an annual event held 18-19 March at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, which focuses on connecting the Queensland legal profession, and providing continuing professional development to solicitors.
QLS president Bill Potts anticipates an exciting event, with something for each attendee, including seven substantive law streams across the two-day event.
“We are particularly thrilled to have criminal and human rights lawyer Rabia Siddique present our opening plenary this year," he said.
“Rabia will share her personal and inspiring story of battling discrimination, abuse, chronic illness and post-traumatic stress disorder following her involvement in a hostage crisis in Iraq.
“She will explore what it means to display moral courage, resilience and to lead by example and embrace one’s individual power to create ripples of change.”
The Society is a strong advocate for wellbeing and resilience in the profession, with member benefits such as LawCare providing the profession and its employees with advice and guidance on issues from finances and diet to psychological wellbeing.
The closing plenary will feature international speaker Dr Louise Mahler who will deliver an entertaining presentation on Vocal Intelligence and how vocal options are integral to motivating and inspiring others, and being heard.
