QLS annual report tabled
11 October 2017
Queensland Law Society’s 2016-17 annual report has been tabled in Parliament by Queensland’s Attorney-General the Honourable Yvette D’Ath MP. The report highlights a number of key findings for the past financial year, summarising the Society’s work for good law, good lawyers and the public good.
Notably over the past year, our members held 163 committee and working group meetings, had 184 mentions in Hansard, and made 142 submissions to Parliamentary inquiries.
The QLS Ethics Centre responded to over 4200 enquiries and delivered 72 Bespoke Ethics Sessions.
During 2016-17, we also launched a trial campaign with general practitioners across the state to encourage seniors to report abuse they may be suffering. This initiative, which supports the Society’s vision to better connect the profession with the public, assisted in raising community awareness around this issue.
