QLS launches domestic violence guidelines
27 July 2016
Queensland Law Society will officially launch its Domestic and Family Violence Best Practice Guidelines today at the Supreme Court of Queensland Banco Court.
Key speakers include the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO and the chair of the Society’s Domestic Violence Working Group, Deborah Awyzio.
The Domestic and Family Violence Best Practice Guidelines have been produced following the recommendations in the Queensland Government’s February 2015 report, Not Now, Not Ever – Putting an End to Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland (the Bryce Report). The report charged Queensland Law Society to take action in guiding the legal profession on addressing domestic and family violence in Queensland.
The Society subsequently established the Domestic Violence Working Group whose research and consultation across a broad range of key stakeholders has led to the launch of these best practice guidelines as a reference tool for practitioners. The guidelines are available from qls.com.au/dvguidelines.
