Security bulletin – unattended bags in court buildings

Recently, the courts in Brisbane have experienced a small number of instances of bags and briefcases being left unattended in public areas within the court buildings.

Unattended items can create a security concern and initiate a security response that can be both disruptive and costly. In a worst-case scenario, this may result in a building evacuation.

At a minimum, the owner of an unattended bag can expect that it will be removed by building security staff and cause them inconvenience in locating and collecting the item.

Accordingly, please do not leave briefcases, bags or other items unattended in the public areas outside courtrooms when attending court buildings.
