Employment of articled clerks
The Queensland Law Society's (QLS) Council resolved at its meeting on 27 September 2007 to no longer set specific recommended minimum rates of pay for supervised trainees/articled clerks, but rather refer employers and employees to the market rates set out in the Queensland Legal Salary Survey Report.
This report publishes salary data by area and firm size. Accordingly, it is open to each firm to calculate the value of an articled clerk's/supervised trainee's work in comparison to that of a graduate.
Please note, changes have been made to the legislation regarding articled clerkships/traineeships. See the Admission & Practice section for more information.
