LAWASIA is the professional association of law societies, bar associations, legal firms and lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region. LAWASIA is governed by a council consisting of one representative from each of its 23 member countries.
It represents its members and provides a strong network of professional and business relations between lawyers, businesses and government representatives in the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to a range of meetings and seminars held throughout the year, LAWASIA's biennial conference attracts delegates from across Australia and from as many as 30 countries. The 2005 conference LAWASIA Downunder 2005 was hosted by the Queensland Law Society and was one of the biggest international legal events of the year.
