Cancer & Bowel Research Trust
Cancer & Bowel Research Trust is a non-profit trust which raises vital funds to support both external and internal cancer research projects, fund the purchase of equipment used at both treatment and diagnostic levels, provide patient accommodation and manage, conduct and fund ongoing awareness and prevention campaigns into bowel cancer.
The trust raises funds through a number of initiatives, including donations from the community, corporate backing and special events.
Awareness & Prevention
Research shows that around 75% of bowel cancer can be reduced through early detection, changes in diet and regular exercise. Early detection can greatly reduce the incidence of deaths.
Funding Scientific & Medical Research
Improvements in treatment and diagnostic methods have only happened due to vital ongoing research programs.
Patient Accommodation
We provide dignified and much needed accommodation to patients living in rural areas that need to come to the city to receive treatment.
Equipment Funding
We continue to supply state of the art equipment to hospitals used at diagnostic, treatment and research levels, all of which helps in the fight against bowel cancer.
Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland
The Cerebral Palsy League (CPL) was formed in 1948 by a group of concerned parents to provide services that were not otherwise available from other community agencies.
Today, CPL is the largest non-government disability services provider for people with a physical disability in Queensland. It currently assists more than 3000 people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, and is supported through fundraising activities, support from the community, the corporate sector and State and Federal Governments.
CPL spends millions of dollars a year to provide services to assist thousands of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to reach their goals. These goals may include educational attainment, independent living, meaningful employment and participating and contributing within the wider community.
While support needs vary through the different stages of life, CPL gives particular emphasis to early intervention, providing targeted services at an early age which are fundamental in realising or maximising future life opportunities.
Support may include speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and social work services. Other support provided by CPL include technology and equipment services, therapy and career support and in-home and community access support.
Communities are now recognising the contributions made by people with disabilities as their co-workers, friends, parents, neighbours and classmates.
Our Mission
The Cerebral Palsy League will provide quality services and supports which will enable and empower people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to create and access opportunities to lead valued lives as respected and equal members of society within their family and community.
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening genetic condition in Australia – and there is no cure.
CF is a degenerative condition that affects many of the body’s systems, including lungs and digestion. On a daily basis, those diagnosed with CF live through daily physiotherapy and medications, among other treatments, just to survive.
Cystic fibrosis Queensland (CFQ) has as its philosophy a simple promise – “For the Love of Life”. Faced with a life-threatening chronic illness, children and adults with CF and their families face a daily fight for life. CFQ believe every person diagnosed with CF and their families deserve the best possible quality of life and are committed to providing the support to make that possible.
This includes providing emotional support through counselling, sibling activity days and respite programs; practical support through equipment, hospital transfers, physiotherapy, accommodation and special support for children during hospital stays; advocacy and education programs; and research.
Last year CFQ provided services to over 3700 CF children and adults and their families. In that time they received less than 6% government funding, meaning they must raise $94 in every $100 they spend to support their clients.
For more information or to show your support contact CFQ on 07 3359 8000 or visit www.cfqld.org.au
Epilepsy Queensland
Since 1969, Epilepsy Queensland Inc (EQI) has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with epilepsy and their carers/families through advocacy, research, support and information. Considerable effort is put into increasing public awareness and raising community understanding of epilepsy.
Epilepsy affects as many as 2% of Queenslanders – about 86,000 people. There are more people with epilepsy than with muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, motor neuron disease and several others combined. Epilepsy is recognised as the world's most common serious brain disorder (WHO, 1997). While in most cases it is diagnosed during the school years, epilepsy may affect anyone at anytime.
EQI’s goals are to:
- Create a supportive environment for people with epilepsy and their families.
- To empower people with epilepsy and their families.
- To contribute to the scientific understanding of epilepsy through research, education and its application.
- To ensure health, welfare and other services respond appropriately to the needs of people with epilepsy and their families.
- To ensure appropriate policies for people with epilepsy are included in public policies in all sectors.
- To ensure the long-term sustainability of Epilepsy Queensland Inc.
People with epilepsy are stigmatised, bullied, harassed and discriminated against due to a lack of knowledge, awareness or empathy for epilepsy by the community generally. EQI want people with epilepsy and their families to get the assistance that they need, when and where it’s needed. They want community attitudes about epilepsy to be based on fact, not fiction.
If you would like to show your support to EQI and keep up to date with the latest news, information and offers, please consider joining and do your bit to help bring epilepsy out of the shadows.

Royal Flying Doctor Service
The furthest corner. The finest care.
For locals, as well as for those travelling and working in rural and remote Queensland, the RFDS plays an integral role in their safety and provides a true sense of security, should life present challenges beyond their capacity to manage.
Last year the RFDS aircraft fleet travelled over 6 million kilometres throughout Queensland and provided more than 88,000 patient consultations. More than 10,000 of these patients were aeromedically transported to hospital or treated after serious accidents or life threatening medical conditions.
While emergency aeromedical retrieval remains a primary duty of the Flying Doctor, the organisation also provides an extensive network of primary health care services such as mental health, Indigenous health, children’s health and women’s health.
In Queensland, 14 aircraft are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With each aircraft costing around $7 million, the RFDS is constantly challenged to raise enough money to cover the costs of aircraft replacement.
Donations to the RFDS (Queensland Section) have an impact on generations to come. Your client can make a lasting difference by leaving a gift to the RFDS in their will, ensuring their hard work in this lifetime continues to work hard for loved ones and others in the future.
If you have a client that wishes to leave a bequest or for more information about our alliance program for bequestors please contact us on 07 3860 1100 or visit www.flyingdoctor.org.au
