As President of the Queensland Law Society I am pleased to announce the release of the Queensland survey of pro bono legal practice. This survey is the first in a series of state-by-state surveys of all legal practitioners in Australia throughout 2006 and is available online at:-

http://www.yellowsquares.com.au/surveys/Y51108.asp

The survey is instituted by the National Pro Bono Resource Centre and conducted in conjunction with the Queensland Law Society's Access to Justice / Pro Bono Section, the survey has the backing of the Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House, is being administered by Dr Belinda Carpenter of the QUT Faculty of Law and provided through the web resources of yellowSquares.

The survey is anonymous and should take participants no more than 10-15 mins to complete. It will provide valuable information to the community at large about the pro bono work done by the Queensland legal community. Pro bono work is an important part of practice often overlooked by the public.

I encourage members to respond to this survey as a strong response rate will be crucial to the success of the project in Queensland.

Members with questions regarding the survey can contact Dr Carpenter on 07 3864 3008 or b.carpenter@qut.edu.au for more information.
