Government Lawyers Section

Queensland Law Society’s Government Lawyers Section is dedicated to providing practical support and networking opportunities, while also representing the interests of legal practitioners and professionals working in Queensland’s public sector.

The Section has recently been expanded to better meet the specific needs of the sector. There are three sub-committees that work to shape the support services, professional development and profile of government legal practitioners and professionals.

Sub-committees

  • Regional lawyers sub-committee: works to develop better support services for the public sector’s regional professionals
  • Conferences and seminars sub-committee: works to enhance professional development options
  • Proctor editorial sub-committee: works to raise the profile, and meet the information needs, of government legal professionals by contributing articles to Proctor, the Society’s professional publication.

How to become involved

There are two ways a Queensland Law Society member or associate member can become involved with the Government Lawyers Section:

  • By joining a sub-committee and actively participating in the day-to-day work of the Section
  • By becoming a general member of the Section and receiving professional information and invitations to events.
