Alternative providers of help & support
In addition to the assistance available from LawCare, the member assistance program which provides free, confidential and voluntary counselling services to members, Queensland Law Society acknowledges that members might also look for help and support from other providers such as psychologists and counsellors.
Whilst the providers listed below carry no formal endorsement from Queensland Law Society, they do have the following attributes in common:
- formal qualifications in clinical psychology, psychology, or clinical social work
- seniority and experience in their professions
- experience in working with lawyers and law firms
- completely independent practitioners in private practice settings
- different areas of practice in psychology and executive coaching
If you are an experienced psychologist/counsellor, have experience of working with lawyers and law firms, and would like to appear on the list of providers, please send an email to g.watson@qls.com.au.
The providers are listed below with profiles, photos and contact details.
Queensland Law Society members are welcome to make separate contact with any panel member to organise a session. There is no need or requirement to inform Queensland Law Society in relation to any session arranged.
The process is completely separate and is not funded by Queensland Law Society. The process is completely confidential and members are responsible for payment of their sessions. Most of the listed practitioners have facility for Medicare and/or insurance rebates.
Australian Psychological Society
Many of the providers listed are also members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 18,000 members.
The APS website - http://www.psychology.org.au also has an online ‘Find a Psychologist’ service with additional information on consulting a psychologist, including fees and rebates.
