Equality, Diversity and Flexibility

Queensland Law Society is committed to promoting the principles and practice of equality and diversity in the Queensland legal profession.

In addition to the need to comply with anti-discrimination legislation and regulations, it is also in every legal practice’s interests to implement appropriate equality, diversity and flexibility arrangements so as to:

  • attract and retain the best talent
  • reduce absence rates
  • reduce stress or burnout
  • improve staff satisfaction and release contribution
  • assist innovation and productivity
  • attract and retain more diverse clients
  • enhance management style
  • enhance practice reputation, and
  • reduce internal tensions.

Many also believe that solicitors, in serving the public interest, ensuring access to justice and upholding the rule of law should also take a lead on issues of equality and fairness.
