Dignity at Work Charter
The Queensland Law Society’s Dignity at Work Charter below was
originally developed by Geraldine Neal, Consultant, and adapted with
permission. Its aim is to encourage legal practices to actively promote
equality, diversity and workplace dignity.
The Society sees the Charter as being a short, succinct and
easily understood document that clearly states what individuals can
expect from their legal practice colleagues and employers and what they
can do if they have concerns.
We encourage legal practices in Queensland to adopt the Charter
and provide a copy of it to all principals and employees – helping to
set the scheme for what should be a harmonious, respectful and
professional relationship workplace.
We consider that the adoption of the Charter is likely to assist
in the development of healthy workplaces where employees are protected
from unacceptable behaviours such as discrimination, sexual harassment
and bullying at work.
