How do I apply for a leave of absence from my accreditation?
Leave of Absences are covered by section 5.7 of the Specialist Accreditation Handbook.
If there will be a change in circumstance where your level of involvement in your area of accreditation makes it difficult for you to satisfy the conditions for maintaining accreditation, you must apply for a leave of absence from your accreditation. Leave of absences can only be approved for a period of up to two consecutive years.
A example of a change in circumstance may be:
- taking a leave of absence from your employment to travel or for illness;
- taking maternity leave;
- practising wholly outside of Queensland for a period greater than three months (if your accreditation is a state-based accreditation) etc
If you would like to apply for a leave of absence from your accreditation please apply in writing to the relevant Advisory Committee requesting a leave of absence. Outline the reason why the leave of absence is necessary and how long you require. Please note: Leave of Absences will not be granted beyond two consecutive years.
Please address your letter of request to the relevant Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee and forward to the Specialist Accreditation team via specaccred@qls.com.au.
Please note: if your circumstances change and you have not been granted a leave of absence, in order to re-accredit you will be required to resit the accreditation assessment program.
