Queensland Law Society today (Thurs Nov 29) applauded the state government for increasing the number of judges currently sitting on Supreme Court with the appointment of two judges.
Queensland Law Society President Ken Taylor said the appointments of silks Thomas Bradley and Elizabeth Wilson would provide much-needed assistance to the jurisdiction’s already busy workloads.
“The Society welcomes the appointments of two highly-respected barristers and is particularly delighted that the announcement has resulted in one additional judge being added to the Supreme Court bench,’’ Mr Taylor said
“The Society remains supportive of additional resources to our complex and hectic Supreme Court and the appointments represent a positive step forward in ensuring our courts run seamlessly and efficiently.
“The justice system is a fundamental part of our society and our judicial officers play a key role in not only carrying out justice, but also in protecting the community at large.
“I wish the new judges all the best in their tenure, and I look forward to seeing more appointments to Queensland’s justice system to ensure adequate and equal access to justice for all Queenslanders.”
