Queensland Law Society says there is deep sadness in the legal community regarding the death of Cedric Hampson AO QC on the weekend.
President Ian Brown said Mr Hampson, a senior member of the Queensland Bar for many years, was a highly respected member of the profession, an eminent figure in Queensland’s legal, political and social history and a towering advocate for justice.
“Mr Hampson was central to the Fitzgerald Inquiry, two major Criminal Justice Commission inquiries and two Royal Commissions,” Mr Brown said.
“There are few people who have given more to the practice of law and service to justice.
“He will be remembered for his courage, outstanding integrity and inspiring legal intellect.
“Above all, he was a mentor and role model for countless lawyers.”
