Bill amendments to be marked with tracked changes

In our 2017 Call to Parties Statement, QLS called for a commitment to provide Bills with mark-ups showing tracked changes, where amendments to the existing legislation are proposed.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet has advised the Society that it is anticipated that tracked changes mark-up for indicative reprints will be made publicly available for the first parliamentary sitting in 2019.

QLS has been invited to participate in the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel Stakeholder Reference Group, which will be involved in the project.

Members of the legal profession will benefit from the ability to clearly distinguish changes between the existing legislation and the proposed amendments in a single document.
