Court Link Program—Recommencement of Referrals
17 June 2020
The availability for new referrals to Court Link recommenced from 15 June 2020 at all sites. Court Link is an integrated court assessment, referral and support program. Court Link assists participants by connecting them with treatment and support services to address housing, employment, drug and alcohol, health and other social needs. Court Link’s purpose is to provide support and assistance to people in accordance with their risk of re-offending, their needs, and their ability and willingness to receive help. A person can be assessed to participate in Court Link if they are appearing before the Magistrates Court charged with any criminal offence, regardless of whether they will plead guilty or not guilty.
Court Link will aim to do face to face triage assessments and case management appointments where possible, however in some sites these will be done by phone or video with defendants. Court Link staff will work with court staff, the Queensland Police Service and legal representatives to triage defendants as soon as possible, with consideration to the social distancing requirements and recognising that a large volume of matters will be progressing through the courts in the coming weeks.
All Court Link sites will continue to provide the court with progress and final reports regarding a participant’s progress on Court Link. Court Link is aware that community services may still be limited as organisations undergo their own transition planning.
