Ethics Reminder: No Contact Rule

Practitioners are reminded that they must not deal directly with the client of another solicitor, unless the dealing falls within one of the exceptions in Rule 33 Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules 2012. The QLS Ethics and Practice Centre has become aware that in some circumstances where media has focused on a person who has representation, some solicitors are approaching that person to persuade them to change their solicitor. Such approaches are, either touting or predatory behaviour, both of which are unethical and unprofessional.
