Client Relations Centre now at Legal Services Commission

On Friday 10 December 2010, responsibilities held by the Queensland Law Society’s Client Relations Centre will be transferred to the Legal Services Commission (LSC).
These responsibilities include managing inquiries and concerns from members of the public regarding solicitors’ services, helping identify the issues involved in a complaint and referring matters on for appropriate management.
The agreement between the Society and the LSC provides a better service to consumers as the organisation where the complaint is lodged has responsibility for the management of complaint matters.
Queensland Law Society will continue to provide legal practitioners with guidance regarding ethical issues, conduct investigations as requested by the LSC and provide the public with referrals for solicitors’ services and information regarding the legal profession.
However, public concerns and complaints about a particular legal service provider are to be made to the LSC from now on.
