Supreme Court White Ribbon Day Breakfast Monday 23 November 2015 – featuring high-profile presenters
20 November 2015
This Monday, the Supreme Court together with Gadens, Queensland Law Society and the Bar Association of Queensland will hold a White Ribbon Day breakfast to support Women’s Legal Service.
This annual breakfast features addresses by Queensland Chief Justice the Honourable Catherine Holmes, Director of the ‘Mentors in Violence Prevent’ program at Griffith University Dr Shannon Spriggs Murdoch and Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG.
This past year, Women’s Legal Service has experienced a 40% increase in demand for help from Queensland women who experience domestic violence.
Women’s Legal Service coordinator Rosslyn Monro is pleased to see the event growing in popularity, and applauds the legal community for getting behind such an important issue.
“Due to resource constraints we can only help 1 in 10 women who need our help. The Supreme Court breakfast is a key way that we raise funds to help more women,” she said.
This event shines the spotlight on this imperative issue and discusses the devastating effects of domestic violence in Queensland.
Date: Monday 23 November 2015
Venue: The Gallery, Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law, 415 George Street Brisbane
There will be photography opportunities after the event.
