Judicial appointments protocol released
13 July 2016
The Queensland Government has approved a protocol associated with the appointment of judicial officers in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court of Queensland. The protocol facilitates expressions of interest in appointment and a framework of criteria to assess candidates.
A Judicial Appointments Advisory Panel will be formed to select and present to the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice a shortlist of persons the panel considers suitable for appointment as a judicial officer for an existing or upcoming vacancy.
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General will maintain a register of expressions of interest in appointment to the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court.
Details of the new protocol are available from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
