Lawyers in child safety service centres
24 January 2018
All practitioners working in the child protection jurisdiction are reminded that child safety service centres now have lawyers in most regions of Queensland. Solicitors from the Office of the Child and Family Solicitor (OCFOS) are embedded in most child safety service centres and provide legal advice to child safety staff on their ongoing court matters and other arising legal issues.
If legal practitioners have dealings with Child Safety, they are encouraged to speak with and make themselves known to the centre’s lawyer. They are also encouraged to file a Notice of Address for Service in accordance with the Childrens Court Rules 2016.
More information on OCFOS can be obtained at communities.qld.gov.au.
