MAIC cracks down on claim farmers
24 June 2020
Claim farmers (also known as ‘car crash scammers’) have contacted over 1.5 million people, including vulnerable Queenslanders, with relentless phone calls and aggressive tactics.
The Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) is ramping up its investigations of suspected claim farming activity. It has set its sights on operators who target Queenslanders with phone calls related to car crashes then sell their personal information.
Equipped with its new enforcement powers, MAIC has active investigations underway and will prosecute offences where appropriate. Read more about the action that the commission is taking.
MAIC is determined to stop scammers to protect Queenslanders and the integrity of our CTP insurance scheme. If you suspect any claim farming activity requiring investigation, please contact MAIC.
