He also sits on the Board of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Assocation, and Queensland Law Society and Law Council of Australia’s Insolvency and Reconstruction Queensland Sub-Committee.

Peter has been recognised by his peers as one of the best lawyers in the Australian Financial Review Best Lawyers® survey from 2008 to 2020, Lawyer of the Year in the Best Lawyers’ Brisbane Insolvency and Reorganisation 2013, and Leading Insolvency and Reconstruction Lawyer, Brisbane, in the 2018 Doyle’s Guide to the Australian Legal Profession.

QLS President Murphy said that, as an organisation focused on our members and committed to supporting good lawyers, QLS valued this experience highly, and it aligned with our organisational values.

“Peter will bring unique experience and a commercial mindset to this important leadership role at QLS,” President Murphy said. “His commitment to the profession through his long career will enable him to make a significant contribution to setting QLS’s strategic direction for 2021 to 2025, the way QLS engages with members, and to our members’ experience of the practice of the law.

“With his depth of knowledge and experience, we are looking forward to Peter taking his seat on Council and working with him to advocate for good law and the public good in Queensland.”
