Updated REIQ Contracts – 13th edition “Houses and Residential Land” and 9th edition “Residential Lots in a CTS”
30 January 2017
QLS and the Real Estate Institute of Queensland have prepared new editions of the two standard residential contracts, updating the definition of “Compliant Smoke Alarm” as a result of recent legislative changes.
The new editions are now available to members (QLS member login required) on the REIQ contracts page. Practitioners are requested to update any saved versions on their systems with the new editions.
Lexon will be releasing updated conveyancing risk packs shortly incorporating the changes. In the interim practitioners can continue to use existing risk packs and letters (for editions 12 and 8) noting the minor changes with clients as outlined.
The definition of “Compliant Smoke Alarm” in the standard Contract for Houses and Residential Land (now 13th edition) and standard Contract for Residential Lots in a Community Titles Scheme (now 9th edition) has been updated as a result of changes to the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990, introduced by the Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Act 2016. A comparison table showing the change to the definition is available on the website. The new editions have also been made available to REIQ members.
