COVID-19 LEGAL PROFESSION RESOURCES
Updated Friday 3 April 2020
QLS has been liaising with the Attorney-General about the essential nature of the provision of legal services in Queensland. The Attorney-General has confirmed that “to date, the duties performed by the legal profession are not classified as non-essential…[however] members should be aware that any Public Health direction may change in the future as the response to COVID-19 escalates.”
In summary, the Attorney-General has confirmed that firms can remain open, practitioners can attend court and attend property settlements. We will continue to engage with the Attorney-General on this issue and update practitioners should this advice change.
