Assistance with complaints from Legal Services Commissions
The Free Legal Advice Panel Scheme formerly provided by the Society has ceased.
Lexon Insurance provides LSC complaints cover in respect of complaints made to the Legal Services Commission (Q) and equivalent bodies in any other Australian jurisdiction. Cover is generally limited to $10,000 and will be provided (for (Q) matters) by a member of the Lexon LSC Panel
To access this cover a practitioner, who is Lexon insured, must first have incurred an uninsured component of $3000 for the provision of legal advice about the complaint. For Legal Services Commission (Q) matters, the uninsured component must have been incurred with a member of the Lexon LSC Panel. Having made this contribution the insured is then entitled to the benefit of the cover which in the usual case is $10,000 for costs and expenses incurred in defending the complaint including costs awarded to the Commission.
In respect of complaints made to an equivalent body in another jurisdiction the uninsured component can be incurred with any suitably qualified practice.
To take advantage of this cover contact Lexon on 07 3007 1266 or contact a member of the Lexon LSC Panel set out below.
