Queensland Law Society

Resilience and wellbeing resources for the legal profession

Supporting the resilience and wellbeing of the legal profession is a priority for Queensland Law Society. As the peak body servicing Queensland’s law industry, we maintain that the wellbeing of the profession is fundamental to empowering our vision of good law and good lawyers for public good.

The QLS resilience and wellbeing portal is available to our members. It contains information, resources and tools to help individuals navigate and manage the pressures of modern legal life.

Additionally, a resources section is available for organisations to assist in the development of healthy and supportive workplaces of varying sizes, whether it be an in-house legal team, community legal centre, or law faculty.

The portal is strengthened by QLS’s Wellbeing Working Group who focus on support, education, awareness and prevention of mental health issues in the legal profession, and the reversing of the prevalence trend.

LawCare is a wellbeing support service designed specifically for Society members. Provided externally by Converge International, members can access up to six complimentary and confidential professional counselling sessions that will help you to develop solutions for improved health and wellbeing.

Through LawCare, members have access to specialist counsellors that are qualified and experienced in delivering wellbeing support. The solution-focused service is purposely designed to offer tailored sessions, so members can access the right help at the right time. For example, the Money Assist service offers access to financial experts who can help with money management coaching and financial concerns.

Individuals experiencing sexual harassment, discrimination or workplace bullying can access urgent counselling support through LawCare. Members, access LawCare details at the link below.
