McCullough Robertson

At McR we do things a bit differently.

McCullough Robertson is an independent Australian law firm with more than 400 staff spread across five offices. Operating for over 92 years, we have a range of legal services on offer for clients comprising major Australian and foreign owned corporations, financial institutions, governments and high net worth individuals.

At McCullough Robertson, our common purpose of Unlocking Success. Together unites us.

Our unique internship program recruits both law students in their pre-penultimate year for an eight week program, which is completed over two years and law students in their penultimate year for a four week program completed in one year.

We are renowned for challenging our interns and graduates early in their career to pursue both personal and professional development opportunities. We look for confident, independent thinkers who are passionate about providing the best possible service to our clients.

We believe that old ways won’t open new doors – sometimes the same old approach won’t always guarantee the right outcome, and with the ever-changing terrain in our industries, we require strategic thinkers who can apply innovative solutions and open up new opportunities.

We are looking for law students who value a growth pathway – starting with our Internship Program and moving towards securing a place in our Graduate Program.

What you can look forward to

  • Valuable on the job experience earlier in your degree
  • An induction program introducing you to our practice groups
  • Development programs including CV building, interview skills and networking
  • Support from your buddy and supervisor
  • Challenging, high profile matters with some of the biggest organisations around the world
  • Heaps of opportunities to give back to your community through pro bono and volunteer work

The program you choose now could define your career so it’s important you make the right choice.

Shine Lawyers

Shine Lawyers

Shine Lawyers was founded more than 40 years ago in Toowoomba, by a lawyer who wanted to do things differently and believed in always putting his clients first.

Unwavering commitment to our clients

From our humble beginnings in a small country town, our firm has gone from strength to strength. But one thing has remained unchanged, and that is our unwavering commitment to our clients. At Shine, we have the opportunity to always stand up for the little guy and make a genuine difference in people’s lives. This is a privilege and an honour and we give everything we’ve got to ensure our clients achieve the best possible outcomes.

Our people

We employ dedicated professionals with a down-to-earth approach and a real passion for seeing justice served. Over the years, our people have fought numerous battles in and out of the courtroom on behalf of our clients, and we’ve won many landmark cases. We are also active in advocating for legislative change on behalf of everyday Australians to ensure their voice is heard. In the pursuit of justice for our clients, we are not afraid to be different.

The Shine Group

Today, as part of Shine Corporate, we employ a team of approximately 850 people across Australia and New Zealand. Our people work across a range of practice areas including personal injury (motor vehicle accidents and workers compensation), superannuation and disability insurance, serious injury claims, dust diseases, abuse law, class actions, medical law, professional negligence, employment law, travel law, social justice, family law and more. In the last financial year, the Shine Group settled more than 6,000 cases on behalf of our clients and procured damages in excess of $600 million.

Career opportunities

Shine Lawyers’ Clerkship and Graduate programs give you the opportunity to work alongside our senior practitioners and accredited specialists, giving you real insight into working as a lawyer in a plaintiff law firm. From day one, you will be actively involved in legal work which could involve client meetings, court attendance, meetings with experts and third parties, attendance at negotiation conferences, or drafting memos and legal documents. Our programs aim to give you the best possible start to your career by ensuring you are exposed to meaningful learning opportunities and have all the support you need to get ahead of the pack.

Wotton + Kearney

Who is Wotton + Kearney?
Wotton + Kearney is the premier insurance law firm in Australasia.

Insurance – it’s not just cars and homes. Insurance is everywhere: class actions, catastrophic events and sensitive cases making news headlines. Trust us when we say that Insurance Law is fascinating.

The insurance market is a rapidly changing local and global market. We’re the law firm that local and global insurers, brokers and other industry participants turn to for help in managing traditional and emerging risks and disputes that range from the everyday to market-leading claims.

When big companies suffer loss or get sued our clients get the call. They call us because we’re the best at what we do (our partners are routinely recognised amongst Australia’s best lawyers and we’re ranked as Band 1 in the legal directories).

What we do
We’ve worked on some of the biggest cases with clients at the big end of town. When the banks were being sued – we were there. When Australia’s oldest department store faced a securities class action – we were there. When Christchurch crumbled in the earthquakes – we were there.
With six offices in Australia and New Zealand and a strong practice in the London, Europe and Asia Pacific markets through our global Legalign Alliance, there’s no better place to start your litigation career.

Your pathway to a top-tier legal career
We don’t do clerkships. We think our Pathways Program is the best way to build your legal skills and commercial acumen. It’s your opportunity to sink your teeth into large-scale litigation, get mentorship from some of the best minds in the business and grow with a firm that is dedicated to relationships, excellence and diversity.

You’ll join W+K as a paralegal, working part-time during your final year of your law degree. You’ll support a champion team of lawyers who are tasked with ensuring you develop the necessary skills to put you at the front of the queue for a graduate position.

If you go on to take up a graduate position with us, we will also offer:

  • College of Law funding and other forms of study support
  • Above-market remuneration
  • Incentive rewards to increase your remuneration
  • Involvement in our pro-bono program and CSR initiatives; and
  • A whole host of awesome perks.
