What’s in a name?

Solicitor, lawyer, law clerk - in the legal profession, what you call yourself is mandated by statute and indicates your level of qualification. Using the wrong name can result in the voiding of a costs agreement or worse, involvement with the LSC. This article sets out suggested titles that can be used by practitioners, and provides examples of the documents they can sign. The easy-to-use table will ensure practitioners use the appropriate title and avoid unintentionally misleading clients.
