The Queensland Law Society welcomes the State Government’s delivery of 156 new social and affordable homes in Redbank Plains, Waterford West and Miles.
The Society called upon the state’s political policies to work towards improving their policies on social housing in our Call to Parties for the State Election 2024.
In their response to our Call to Parties, the government promised they would give clear targets on their ramp-up on social housing, and we welcome their plan to deliver one million more homes, including 53’500 additional social and community homes by 2044.
We also welcome their establishment of the new Homelessness Ministerial Advisory Council which aims to find and implement practical and compassionate solutions for Queenslanders experiencing homelessness.
The Queensland Law Society looks forward to further announcements from the Government on their steps towards ensuring every resident has a place to call home.
