Adult Crime, Adult Time: QLS Ready Reckoner
The Queensland Law Society has released a new Adult Crime, Adult Time Commencement Dates Ready Reckoner to assist practitioners navigating the staged commencement of offences captured by section 175A of the Youth Justice Act 1992 (Qld). The resource consolidates the various legislative amendments introduced since December 2024 and identifies the commencement date for each offence to which adult penalties may apply. Importantly, the application of section 175A depends not only on the offence charged, but also on when the offence was allegedly committed. The Ready Reckoner is designed as a practical reference tool to support practitioners in identifying the relevant commencement dates at a glance.
