Legal Practitioners Admissions Board (LPAB)

Right to information

In fulfilling its statutory obligations, the Board has prepared two documents; a disclosure log detailing information requested and released through the RTI legislative process, and a publication scheme advising of any information routinely made available to the public.

The Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) came into effect from 1 July 2009, replacing the Freedom of Information legislation. While continuing to protect an individual’s privacy, the laws form part of the Government’s initiative to:

  • increase public access to information
  • encourage transparency by government agencies
  • ensure information within the public interest is available to the community.

In fulfilling its statutory obligations, the Board has prepared two documents; a disclosure log detailing information requested and released through the RTI legislative process, and a publication scheme advising of any information routinely made available to the public.

Publication Scheme

The Legal Practitioners Admissions Board’s (the Board) publication scheme has been developed to:

  • set out the kinds of information routinely available from the Board
  • allow easy and simple access to routinely published information
  • ensure the community has greater access to information
  • provide details as to how information and particularly personal information held by the Board can be accessed
  • provide details of the Board’s complaints management system
  • respond to the government’s review of right to information laws to achieve proactive disclosure
  • release information routinely made available to the public.

The information provided through the publication scheme replaces the Board’s Statement of Affairs published under s. 18 of the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

Information in the Board’s publication scheme has grouped into classes to facilitate access to routinely published information.

Disclosure log

The Legal Practitioners Admissions Board's Disclosure Log provides details of information that has been released in response to right to information requests since the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) commenced on 1 July 2009. It contains details of the date of any decision to release information, the nature of the request made, and the documents released, information as to how you can access the information, and, where possible, a link to the relevant documents.

In accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Principles, this disclosure log does not include requests for personal information.

Privacy

In accordance with its obligations under the  Information Privacy Act 2009 ('the Act'), the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board is committed to protecting the privacy of applicants and ensuring that any personal information obtained by it is handled, collected, used, amended, stored, and disclosed in accordance with the Information Privacy Principles contained within the Act.
