'The Practice Advisory Service has been designed to assist solicitors to achieve a sustainable and ethically driven law practice. The services are available so members can obtain confidential guidance, to implement practice systems that can enhance the manner in which the practitioner practises law. A key to modern practice is adaptability, but also an understanding of the traditional approach to client service. The Practice Advisory Service solicitors can provide guidance to assist you to achieve your law firm's potential.' - Stafford Shepherd, QLS Principal Ethics and Practice Counsel
The Practice Advisory Service (PAS) is a complimentary service for QLS members offered by QLS Solicitor Support Pty Ltd (a wholly owned incorporated legal practice of QLS). Our solicitors have years of experience running their own practices and are able to provide guidance in essential areas such as appropriate management systems for incorporated legal practices, legal project management, records management, costs disclosure, client agreements, and practice management generally.
PAS offers in-person and on-line visits throughout Queensland. The consultations are a great opportunity for you to have a confidential discussion about your key business concerns – budgeting/cash flow, business development, back office practices and procedures, and/or review of legal practice management systems.
PAS offers assistance to start-ups, existing legal practices and those principal practising certificate holders who are considering their transitioning or retirement options.
In circumstances where we consider it may be helpful or important, PAS can offer referrals to senior advisors (via video-conferencing or telephone) for a free consultation (of up to 2 hours) in key areas of:
- Accounting and finance;
- Business planning and management
- Governance structures
- Human resources and employment
- Information technology and software.
- Organisational culture and self-development
- Succession planning
PAS is available for free to Queensland legal practices owned and operated by full members of QLS.
PAS regularly travels to Queensland regional areas and regional practitioners should contact PAS for information on travel dates.
