The Society welcomes the introduction of paid domestic and family violence leave which came into effect in most Australian workplaces on 1 February. Small businesses will have an extra six months to adjust to these changes, where the paid 10 day entitlement will come into effect on 1 August 2023.

The Society had the opportunity to provide comments on the Fair Work Amendment (Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave) Bill 2022 in August last year and strongly supported measures such as these, which can assist employees experiencing violence to remain in work, maintain their financial security and access relevant services.
