Register of powers and estates in relation to trust money

Practitioners are reminded of their obligations under section 57 of the Legal Profession Regulation 2017 which requires practitioners to “…keep a register of powers and estates in relation to which the law practice or an associate of the practice is acting or entitled to act, alone or jointly with the law practice or 1 or more associates of the practice, in relation to trust money.”

Please note that on 1 September 2017, the section was amended to clarify that the section does not apply “…if the law practice or associate is also required to act jointly with 1 or more persons who are not associates of the law practice.”
